First Day of School

Yes it has been almost a month since school started, but it has been a very busy month for me. I am also in school and have classes three nights a week. John is playing football and that keeps up busy four nights a week. This is why I am just now getting to put a blog up for the first day of school.
John is in the fifth grade and that means that it is his last year in Elementary school. I cannot believe he will be in middle school next year, my little boy is growing up and is not so little anymore. He is only 3 inches shorter than I am.

He was thrilled that school was starting. Summers are not his favorite because he cannot go to school and he loves to learn.
Jessica did not like having her picture done on the first day of school, this is the only one that I managed to take of her. She was too excited to go to school and just wanted to be on her way. Jessica is in the third grade now. She has the same teacher as John when he was in the third grade. I was very pleased with this because she is a great lady. Her name is Lori Reurink.
Abbi is in Kindergarten, I can't believe it. Yes, that means that all three of my children are in school now. Abbi loves kindergarten and really enjoys meeting new friends.
Abbi, is my princess and loves to dress up pretty. This is the outfit that she wanted to wear for the first day of school even though it was very warm that day (it was about 90).

Spearfish Park

One of the things I love about living here are all of the great parks. Spearfish park is one of our favorites here. We do not get to go as often as we would like because it is about 40 minutes away. However we went on Thursday and had so much fun. Jessica found some mud and this girl loves mud. Here she is bringing me a mud cake she made for me.
The water was a bit cold at first, but refreshing. It was 100 degrees on this particular day.

We had a wonderful day!!!!!

Hot Summer Days

One of our favorite places to go during the summer is to Canyon Lake Park. It has wonderful playgrounds and lots of room for the kids to run. The best part of the park is the little stream that runs through it. It is the perfect place for them to cool off on hot days.

On this particular day Abbi was having fun splashing in the water while Jessica and John caught crawdads. We now have two pet crawdads from the trip to the park. They reside in John's room in a tank. We will see how long they survive the constant handling from the kids.
Jess sitting on the side of the stream watching John catch the crawdads. In a later post I will have to put some pictures up of the crawdads they caught.
